Xylem named to America’s Most Responsible Companies 2021

For the second year in a row, Xylem has been named to Newsweek’s America’s Most Responsible Companies, a list of 400 companies recognized for giving back to the communities they operate in. In 2019, Xylem was ranked 55th in the list, and this year Xylem moved up to 27th place.

The list, prepared by Newsweek in partnership with Statista, is based on scores in three categories: environmental, social and corporate governance. Starting with the 2,000 largest public companies by revenue in the U.S., the list is then created based on corporate responsibility or sustainability reports and a detailed analysis of the companies.

In 2019, Xylem expanded its sustainability strategy based on new 2025 goals, aimed at advancing sustainability through its customer solutions that clean and manage water, its company practices, and its humanitarian efforts for communities around the world. Xylem’s 2019 Sustainability Report describes the company’s efforts to solve global water challenges and support a healthy world.

“As a global water and critical infrastructure technology provider, we have a unique opportunity to accelerate innovation and adoption across the water and wastewater cycles,” writes Claudia Toussaint, Xylem’s General Counsel and Chief Sustainability Officer, in the report. “By combining our sharper focus on advancing sustainability for our customers with our work to advance sustainability across our company and in our communities, we knew we could make a significant difference.”

In 2020, Xylem has been honored with key sustainability recognitions, including being named to Forbes and Just Capital’s 100 Most JUST Companies, Human Rights Campaign Foundation‘s Corporate Equality Index and Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies.
